Body contouring surgeries are the most sought after cosmetic procedures by those who wish to remove surplus skin and fat deposits to gain a firmer, smoother, and slimmer appearance. Of all these procedures, liposuction has evolved as the excellent technique for discarding surplus fat from any part of the body. Liposuction in Las Vegas is mostly done on specific areas: the hips, abdomen, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, medial knees, upper arms, upper back, flanks, neck, lower face, and breasts. No matter what the area is; our licensed physicians have the necessary experience in this field to ensure specialized care for the patient, making him or her feel as comfortable as possible. According to them, liposuction should not be looked upon as a weight loss or skin tightening procedure; they consider it to be a purely body contouring surgery.
The Eligibility Criteria
The best candidate for this cosmetic procedure is one who has good skin tone, firm and supple skin, normal weight, and pockets of surplus fat in some areas. However, these are not exclusive criteria. Not all people have great tissue or skin tone. For many people, skin unevenness, looseness, and cellulite are common problems that do not exclude liposuction as the most preferred procedure for improving body contour and aesthetics.
Other candidates are people who have genetic tendencies to certain fatty bulges and body disproportion, such as a wide lower body with a narrow upper body. It should be noted that our surgeons do not recommend liposuction for people with bloating or beer-belly issues, as the fatty accumulation takes place on internal part of the abdominal wall, while that this procedure can deal with only external fat.
Our physicians suggest either the Super-Wet, Tumescent, or Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL) techniques according to the patient’s anatomy and preferences.
Any of the above procedures may be performed using a combination of local and general anesthesia. In some cases, only local anesthesia with sedation will be used to remove small fat deposits. After administering anesthesia, fat is filled with a highly dilute local anesthetic to bloat its cells making it easier to remove them and enhance the ability to shape the areas more effortlessly. Then, by making a miniature incision, a cannula or narrow tube is inserted for vacuuming the fat layer located deep under the skin. This tube is pushed and pulled through the layer of fat to break up and suction off the fat cells, using a large syringe or vacuum pump. The incisions made in each treated area are kept as inconspicuous as possible by our experienced surgeons.
Lastly, the treated area(s) is covered with elastic compression clothing to help with controlling swelling and alleviating fluid accumulation. The surgeon in charge will monitor you for an hour or two after the surgery after which you will be discharged, provided there is someone available to drive you home.
You might experience fluid drainage from the cuts, which will stop in two days. Pain, anxiousness, numbness, and soreness will be experienced, but the prescribed medications will help to keep them at bay. You can get back to sedentary work within less than a week’s time and to physical chores within 1 to 2 weeks. Within 6 weeks, you will start to feel normal. Realistic expectations discussed with our physicians prior to surgery will surely make you feel satisfied and happy during your recovery period.
